A film photo of a sunny, white-brick tattoo studio. E.K. and a client stand in the center in front of a tattoo bed and station, with E.K. drawing on the client’s back with marker.

E.K. Chan is a tattoo artist and biology & environment enthusiast who doodled and daydreamed through a B.Sc. in evolutionary biology. After graduating, they bounced between odd jobs, including shelving at a used bookstore and illustrating for online paleontology courses.

They then made the best of their variously pointless skillsets and began working as a tattoo artist in Toronto, where they are happiest laying lines in the shapes of plants and animals.
